Funeral Etiquette

Casket Etiquette

Traditionally, immediate family members choose the flowers in which will be directly displayed on the casket.  Extended family or friends may wish to contribute by providing complimentary side pieces such as an easel display.  Anyone may send flowers directly to the funeral home or directly to the families home.

Cremation Etiquette

The immediate family will choose the focal location for the placement of the urn along with focal flowers directly on the urn or near-by.  Side arrangements can then be further discussed between extended family and/or friends.

Bringing Home Your Flowers

You will need to communicate with your funeral home and ask them about their policies.  Some offer delivery of your flowers after the service is held, while others will ask for you to take them with you.

Missed the Funeral

Unfortunately, mourners may not be able to make it to the service.  Sending flowers a week later is both appreciated and accepted and will help to communicate to the family that your thoughts are with them.  Often flowers express visibly what words cannot say.
